What does my child need at home to start?
The short answer
A phone, tablet or laptop with a browser and an internet connection. Nothing is installed, because the Linux lab runs in the browser. A laptop with a keyboard is more comfortable for typing commands. Plan for about 30 minutes a day, which is the daily goal in the student app.
Do we need a laptop?
No. The app works on a phone or tablet. A keyboard helps once commands get longer, so a laptop is nicer but not required.
How much time each day?
The app sets a daily goal of 30 minutes. Short, regular sessions work better than one long one.
What about data costs?
Lessons are light and the lab sends text, so data use is low. Ask us if your connection is limited.
